Tuck and Roll - The Writer's Highway: Part Three

Image
Weeks ago, I posted the introductory for a serial called: Tuck and Roll - The Writer's Highway.   If you missed the post, here it is.
This series is meant to encourage and inspire you as a writer along your journey.
I brought out the illustration of a caterpillar.  Hence, the picture on this post.  We'll view this little guy as a sort of mascot the series.
So let's begin.  Today we'll discuss overcoming obstacles at these points in our journey: receiving agent rejections and the course of self-publication.

Tuck and Roll - The Writer's Highway: Part Two

Image
A couple weeks ago, I posted the introductory for a serial called: Tuck and Roll - The Writer's Highway.   If you missed the post last week, here it is.
This series is meant to encourage and inspire you as a writer along your journey.
I brought out the illustration of a caterpillar.  Hence, the picture on this post.  We'll view this little guy as a sort of mascot the series.
So let's begin.  Today we'll discuss overcoming obstacles at these points in our journey: Editing your novel and receiving criticism.
Editing So you pull yourself through the second stage.  You convince yourself your book is worthy of saving and you're going to put more work into it.
But after the tenth pass through you're getting really sick of reading it.  Maybe you're even starting to think it stinks again.
TUCK AND ROLL!

5 Star Books

Image
Talk about a lovely surprise!  Today I received an email from 5 Star Books telling me that my novels were chosen to appear on their site.

What does this mean?  As noted on 5 Star Books' site:
"This is the place to find excellent fiction written by Indie authors.
Our goal is to have a place for you (the reader) to find excellent new authors, and not have to wade through 1-3 star books to find them. How do we pick the novels featured on 5-Star Books? First, the book must have predominantly 5-Star reviews on Amazon.com. After that qualification, we look at the cover design, the number of reviews, what readers are saying in those reviews, when the book was published, and other subjective factors.
You will see some extraordinary reads that are so outstanding that they are listed in more than one genre. We have done this to maximize that novel's exposure to new readers.
As a firm principle, we do not receive compensation from any author or publisher to list their book. This ens…

It Coming--Mark Your Calendars!

You've met Madison Knight in TIES THAT BIND, you've read the excerpt from the next in the series on my website.  Now, it's almost time to get the book!  JUSTIFIED is coming in 5 days!!!

But don't worry if you haven't picked up a copy of TIES THAT BIND, you can still get a copy ;)  And the best part as well--just because Madison Knight novels are part of a series, you don't have to read them in order!  They are stand-alone!

Madison Knight should have ignored the call.  Now she is spending Christmas Eve dealing with her least favorite thing…blood and lots of it.
When a female victim is found in her home it has Madison and her partner tapping into the vic’s personal life.  With a rash of former business partners and lovers, all of whom wanted her dead, there are not enough hours to question them all.
But trying to find the person who had the most motive isn't all that's on Madison's mind.  As she struggles to establish balance in her own life, she knows sh…

Tuck and Roll - The Writer's Highway: Part One

Last week, I posted the introductory for a serial called: Tuck and Roll - The Writer's Highway.   If you missed the post last week, here it is.
This series is meant to encourage and inspire you as a writer along your journey.
I brought out the illustration of a caterpillar.  Hence, the picture on this post.  We'll view this little guy as a sort of mascot the series.
So let's begin.  Today we'll discuss overcoming obstacles at these points in our journey:  Setting Out to Writer Your First Novel and Completing Your First Novel.
Setting out to write your first novel. This is where the fun begins.  You're infused with a passion and characters who are demanding their stories be told.  What if they stop "talking" to you?  Ever have that?
What if you're going along and everything is coming along wonderfully…until…you're stuck.  How do you get your characters out of the situation they are in?  What's the next step?
Perhaps you panic, or worse yet put your …
